Yeah so following my last post I Found Love (Part 1), its back to me. When love found me I was a little taken back and I questioned it for a while. I had to tread very carefully, analysing every move just to make sure that it was real.
I must admit that because I waited so long I didn’t actually know what to do…can you imagine a big grown woman like me with my many years on this earth! I totally got all confused as to what to do to make sure that I didn’t mess it up. It was an interesting journey because I didn’t feel the need to run around telling everyone about it or to quickly update my Facebook and change my status.
It was a long distance ‘relationship’ and I had never had a long distance ‘relationship’ so that was new, scary, intriguing but still very exciting at the same time. I started to research about long distance dating advantages and disadvantages. I really wanted to know whether I could cope with it but what I was most intrigued about was finding out whether the ‘love’ was indeed real!
I learnt to listen with intent and to ask relevant questions that would help me to make up my mind about him. You will be happy to know that it went on for 9 long painful months, towards the end I might as well have been in labour and yes pun intended!
So I made the journey back to Ghana to give ‘birth’ to this relationship after nine months of talking, promises and declarations being made. It was now really exciting. I gave in to my feelings after holding on to them for so long, not wanting to experience disappointment.
I was now willing to take the risk, after all what is the point of living if you can’t take risks every now and then?
See you next week for the next installment of this journey I call life.
