[FEATURE] I Found Love (Part 1)

Ghana flag colored hands showing symbol of heart and love- theonlywayisghana

When I found you I found somebody who cares
When I found you I found my most intimate prayer
When I found you I found what every heart dreams of
When I found you I found love
When I found you I found the rest of my life
When I found you I told all others good bye
When I found you I saw my fears fly away like a dove
When I found you I found loveI know true love sounds crazy worth waiting for
You are the one my only forevermore
When I found you I placed my fate in your arms
When I found you I found no course for alarm
When I found you I knew this love was a gift from above
When I found you I found love

I know true love sounds crazy worth waiting for
You are the one my only forevermore
When I found you I found the scarlet star
When I found you I found one more reason to smile
When I found you I knew I finally found enough
When I found you I found love
When I found you I found love
I found love

The above song is by BB and CC Winans, it’s a beautiful song one of my best friends had asked me to sing on the day of her wedding but I chickened out and did something else.

This song came to mind because I wrote a piece called ‘I found love…’ So as it just fits right into my story, I thought I would use it. I think this song depicts how ‘love’ makes us feel when it pays us a visit and decides to stay. You don’t always find it in the places you expect but that person that you find becomes your one more reason to smile when there is nothing else to smile about. You pride your eyes to only look at them and no one else. They become the “scarlet star” in the sky that shines ever so brightly each time you turn to look at them and this one person becomes your forever and your more than enough in life. When it’s indeed true love you find no cause for alarm.

Well, on my last visit to Ghana, before I made my decision to return and stay I thought I found my forever in the latter part of 2013. The setting was on a beach and the mood seemed rightlove on beach - theonlywayisghana. I didn’t go to the beach with the intention to find love but I guess it tapped me on the shoulder and I turned and said hi. Over the years I have heard many stories about “Ghanaian men” and I must say I wasn’t impressed. However, with a hint of optimism I set out to stay true to my brothers just to prove we can’t tarnish everyone with the same brush. So 2013 was my year of favour! I laugh as I write this because before we usually go into the New Year you can guarantee to hear some kind of declaration being made in order to spur people on for the coming year. So yeah, you could say that it was my year of favour because it could not have been a mere coincidence that things happened the way they did, it had to be God but I had to be sure.

You know when you’ve been waiting for something very precious for a very long time, when you finally get it you are taken back but happy nonetheless right?! A typical example is a young lady knowing that she will get married. She has been dating for a while and she knows she will get married but the courting period lasts longer than she anticipated but she knows without doubt that they are headed for marriage. It’s just a matter of the ring and the wedding date to seal the deal but it takes long. However, one faithful day the official proposal finally comes and she is shocked and overcome with emotion at the surprise. Even though but she was expecting it, she just didn’t know when. I guess because of the long-ness of it all she was no longer anticipating when it would happen.
