First Friday of the month to be declared ‘Batakari Day’ for Ghanaians!

Hi guys,

In Ghana we already have ‘Friday wear’, which was launched under President Kuffour’s administration to help encourage African wear and promote made in Ghana goods. The ministry of trade and industry are now introducing ‘Batakari Day’, which will be in the first Friday of every month.batakari-1-362x330The Batakari or Dashiki Day will be launched at a ceremony to be held at the offices of the World Bank Ghana office on September 4th 2015.

The ceremony named the “Grass is Greener” program is being sponsored by Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), with support from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Culture and Creative Arts, Ministry of Tourism, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and The World Bank Group.

So these are some examples of ladies rocking traditional Batakari’s…  batakari 3

But you know most people are going to take this as the opportunity to come to work in this, seems as they did say Batakari OR Dashiki day lol…dashiki 2

[UPDATE: 09/09/15] Just a quick update for you…I was SO right about most people coming into work wearing the dashikis!! Predictable lol
