Sam Okyere, has been referred to the most famous black man in Korea. The Ghanaian-born presenter and tv personality that has graced both Ghanian and Korean Tv screens.
He originally had a standard trajectory after his high school education. Believing that university and settling down was the next best move for him. His life was changed when he heard about an opportunity in Korea for a year abroad. After he applied and got the scholarship that was the push he needed to excel in a field he never saw himself in.
His initial entrance into Korea was a classic example of a fish out of water. Facing discrimination in Korea, Samuel only persevered. His fame was heavily tied to the resemblance Koreans equating him to Will Smith. The show Hello counselor showcased a younger student Samuel on screen and discussing the veiled racism he faced on the subways and in various spaces in Korea. This started Samuels show jumping career that culminated in a call to be on one of the most popular shows in Korea.
He has gained mounds of fans for his fun and bubbly personality and his fluent Korean. Today Samuel is constantly stopped in the streets for photos and general comments of praise. Now Koreans are eager to be close to him, and his success and prevalence seem to be rising. He has opened up his own Korean Juice bar that is focused on healthy living and a friendly environment.
